Khaita 10 years Anniversary Fundraising

We invite you to participate in a fundraising initiative dedicated to Khaita’s 10th anniversary that we will be celebrating this coming November - exactly 10 years ago in Meriling, Tenerife, Chögyal Namkhai Norbu started selecting the songs for the first Khaita collection "Message from Tibet".

We have prepared many special Khaita prizes - we hope they will bring harmony and joy to the lucky winners!

You can make your offer online here. We will conclude the fundraising on TUESDAY 5th OCTOBER at 21:00 Tenerife time - the one who offers the highest amount will take the prize home.

All funds raised by this initiative will go to support Khaita’s 10th anniversary projects: a short documentary video about Khaita's history and evolution; Rinpoche's commentaries on songs and dances from Mekhor collection, in video and text formats on www.khaita.com web app; new costumes by Dzamling Gar team; and many other projects to honour Rinpoche’s legacy.

Logyen - Khaita costume accessory with infinite knot, created according to the design by Chögyal Namkhai Norbu

Some years ago Rinpoche received a piece of beautiful red brocade as a gift and decided to use it for Khaita costumes. He personally drew the picture and indicated many details, such as golden infinite knot (symbol of Khaita) on a blue background, a special way of combining semi-precious stones, the exact length and a way of making the 5-colored tassels, and even the type of lace for holding this decoration on the belt.

Rinpoche named this decoration “logyen” གློ་རྒྱན། - in Tibetan “lo” གློ་ means "side of the body" and “gyen” རྒྱན་ means “ornament/ decoration/ adornment", so “logyen” གློ་རྒྱན་ means "side decoration".

These ornaments were then created by one of our dancers Elena Kalistova in 2015 in Dzamling Gar, who personally received all of the above instructions from Rinpoche. Since then we have been using these logyens for Khaita performances both in Dzamlinggar and around the world.

You can make your offer online here. We will conclude the fundraising on Saturday 18th September at 21:00 Tenerife time - the one who offers the highest amount will take the logyen home. We wish this logyen to bring harmony and joy to the lucky winner.

Your donation will support the projects to honour Khaita’s 10 years anniversary, among them a short documentary video about Khaita's history and evolution; Rinpoche's commentaries on songs and dances from Mekhor collection, in video and text formats on www.khaita.com web app; new costumes by Dzamling Gar team.
